The Lovelace Trust

Many of our Carter Family carry the middle name Lovelace, though the family has no Lovelace ancestors. This dates back to the death of a John Lovelace in Spain in 1803.  John was the nephew of Caroline Locke (1728-1786) who had married John Carter (1722-1729). Caroline’s sister Anne Marie Locke had married The Reverend John Lovelace, Vicar of Aylesbeare   When their son John died he left his wealth in trust for the support of his poor relations in England. See below for an outline of The Carter, Locke and Lovelace interconnections and The Lovelace Trust.
